Musings on Earth Day, garbage, and the everyday landscape.

Earth Day is April 22 - be sure that you do something nice for Mother Earth.

It seems to me that we should be doing these nice things everyday, not once a year. I'm just sayin'.

I despise trash/garbage/refuse/detritus.
I also despise the attitude that a lot of people have that 'someone else will clean it up'.

At least weekly, I need to go outside and pick up fast food waste that someone has deposited in the street.
I can only assume that the mega-bass that these vehicles pump chucks the food bags out of the window.

I have no dog, yet I need to de-poop my property.
I can remember that when I was lucky enough to be owned by a dog, I cleaned up after him.
I didn't allow him to use my neighbor's lawns and sidewalks as his toilet. Why? Because it's rude.

I need to clean up the recyclables that blow out of a certain neighbor's bin, and end up tangled in my hedges.

I pick up the beer cans and bottles that the patrons of the bar on the corner throw away as they stagger home.

I keep my recyclables where they belong. I cleaned up after my own dog. I don't throw trash out of my car window. I keep my property neat.

Why am I in the minority?
